North Cottage is a spacious one bedroomed self-contained cottage next door to North Lodge, only a short walk from the lakeshore of Bowness on Windermere and ¾ mile to the centre of Bowness village. Originally built as a lodge to what is known as Lindeth Howe Hotel, this whole estate was once owned by Beatrix Potter. North Cottage was built in 1996 as an extension to the original lodge.
The entrance hallway leads to a spacious lounge, where an electric wood burner style fire with flue is set upon a slate hearth beneath an exposed stone lintel, adding character with ornamental beams above. Views of the garden and woodland stream in through the large, lattice bay window, providing verdant views.
Take the stairs down to the garden level and into a large bedroom. A window looks directly out to the private patio and garden, whilst a latched door opens up to the ensuite shower room, with wash basin and WC.
A door leads out from the bedroom to a rear lobby, where a door leads outside to the garden. The well equipped kitchen /diner is off the lobby, replete with washer-dryer, microwave, fridge with freezer box, electric oven and hob.
Step outside to discover the patio and pleasant garden, screened from North Lodge via an area of fencing for a secluded feel.
The Lake and all its attractions are only a 10 minute walk and the centre of the village is ¾ mile away. Bowness on Windermere has a wide choice of restaurants, pubs, cafes, takeaways, shops, supermarkets, cinema, theatre and the World of Beatrix Potter Museum.
A car is not essential as Windermere train station is less than 2 miles away from North Cottage.
